Cleveland Cavaliers Turn Their Arena Into An AR Arcade

Interact with stadium-wide games during live matches using the power of immersive technology.

Fans who attend a Cleveland Cavaliers game at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse during the 2023 NBA Playoffs are in for a treat. The championship-winning team has partnered with fan engagement platform ARound to transform their home stadium into an augmented reality (AR) powered multiplayer arcade.

According to the Ohio-based organization, the Cavs Arcade is a shared experience offering a number of interactive features for fans to enjoy during live matches. This includes interactive games like AR Chain-Shot Contest, a skill-based challenge where attendees can earn official Cavs jerseys and autographed merchandise, as well as Landslide, a multiplayer game that splits the entire stadium into multiple teams.

In addition to games, fans can also expect real-time visual effects that bring memorable characters like mascots Sir CC and Moondog to life in the real world.

“We’re seeing a growing appetite from sports teams to keep existing fans engaged and capture new, younger audiences, who are recognizing the ease in which ARound naturally integrates and complements the action of the game,” said ARound Founder and CEO Josh Beatty in an official release.

“So far, fans have responded very positively to these interactive experiences, with engagement times exceeding our expectations. As the first team in the NBA to introduce shared AR, the Cavs are opening up an entirely new playing field for their 19,000+ fans at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse to feel closer to the game, the players, and the energy of the venue, especially in this notable return of the Cavs to the Playoffs.”

“From the play on the court, to the energy in the FieldHouse and across Cleveland, everything is amplified in the NBA Playoffs,” added Cleveland Cavaliers Vice President of Digital, Brandon Jirousek.

“We knew we had to take our fan experience to another level as well, and we couldn’t be more excited to team up with ARound to help us do that with CAVS ARcade. Innovation is at the core of who we are and this is the latest example of how we strive to explore new ways to engage our fanbase and enhance their interactions with the team.”

The Cavs Arcade experience is available on iOS and Android devices via the ARound app. The experience can be accessed during home games and away game watch parties at the venue. For more information visit
